Most work starts as a ticket. Connecting Linear lets people start a Workspace from one, and gives Soffi the ticket's full context, so you don't have to paste the description into the conversation or explain what the team already wrote down.
Soffi works with one issue tracker at a time. If your Organization has connected Jira, disconnect it before you connect Linear.
Connect Linear
Open Integrations in the left rail and choose Connect on the Linear card. Linear asks you to authorize Soffi for your Linear workspace, and when you come back the card shows Connected with the workspace's name.
The connection belongs to the whole Organization, so everyone uses the same Linear workspace. Editors can see whether it's connected; only Admins and the Owner can connect, reconnect, or disconnect it.
Attach tickets to a Workspace
There are three places to bring a ticket in:
- When you create a Workspace. The Ticket field searches your Linear issues, or takes a pasted issue link. Pick as many as the work covers, up to 25.
- While you work with Soffi. Attach Linear issue in the message box attaches a ticket to the Workspace you're in.
- From the Linear panel. In the Grid layout, add the Linear panel to browse and filter issues, open one to read it, and add it to Soffi's context.
Attached tickets belong to the Workspace, so everyone working in it sees them, and they stay attached for later conversations.
What Soffi does with a ticket
Soffi reads each attached ticket's title, description, state, assignee, labels, links, and its most recent comments, and works from them alongside your code. She can also look up a ticket you mention by its identifier, like ENG-142, and search your issues for related ones.
When you Ship, the pull request's description lists the Workspace's attached tickets, so reviewers can trace the change back to what was asked for.
The connection asks Linear for read and write access. Nothing you do in a Workspace changes an issue, and Soffi doesn't post to your tickets.
Disconnect or reconnect
Use the menu on the Linear card. Reconnect runs the authorization again, which fixes a connection Linear has revoked. Disconnect deletes the access Soffi holds for your Linear workspace, and Soffi stops reading from it. To remove the authorization on Linear's side as well, revoke Soffi from your Linear workspace's settings.
If the Linear panel says the connection needs attention, an Admin should reconnect it. If it says Linear is getting too many requests, wait: that clears on its own, and reconnecting won't help.
