Working in a Workspace
Layouts
Verified against Soffi ·
A Workspace has two layouts, because making a change and reviewing one are different jobs. Grid puts every editing tool around your app. Review clears them away so the app and the feedback on it are all you see.
Switch between them with Switch layout in the header of the right-hand panel. When you open a Workspace, Editors, Admins and Owners land in Grid and Reviewers land in Review, which is the only layout a Reviewer can use. See Roles and permissions.
Grid, for editing
The Preview fills the middle. On the right are Soffi, the Style Editor and Comments. Along the bottom is a drawer, closed when you start, with History, Code and the Design System. If your Organization has connected Linear or Jira, you can add a panel for your issues too.
Every panel has a single-key shortcut, and ⌘B and ⌘J hide and show the right panel and the bottom drawer when you want the Preview bigger. Any panel can be expanded to fill the screen; Esc brings it back. Press ⌘K for the full list of shortcuts, covered in Working together.
Review, for feedback
Review shows the Preview with a single side panel for comments. From the panel you turn comment mode on and off, record a video comment, and read and reply to every thread on the Workspace. To check a change at another width before you say it's done, resize the Preview by dragging the panel edges in the Grid layout. See Preview.
Review is read-only for code: nothing you do there edits the app. It's the layout to use when you want someone's opinion rather than their edits.
At the bottom of the panel, Edit in Soffi takes you to Grid. If you're a Reviewer, it offers Request edit access instead, and you become an Editor once an Editor or Admin approves it.
Switching with unsaved edits
If you have Style Editor edits that aren't applied yet when you switch to Review, Soffi asks whether to apply or discard them first. Nothing is lost by switching.
