Working in a Workspace
Working with Soffi
Verified against Soffi ·
Soffi is the agent in every Workspace. You describe a change in plain language and she makes it in your code, using the components, tokens and conventions your app already has, then the Preview refreshes so you can see the result. She works on the same Workspace you're in, so what she changes shows up in History and ships with everything else.
Soffi has her own tab in the Grid layout, open by default on the right. Press A to jump to it.
Asking for a change
Type what you want into the box at the bottom of the panel. Be as specific as you would be with a teammate: name the screen, say what should change and why.
While she works, each step she takes appears as a row you can expand, including the diff for every file she edits. Some actions, like restarting your app or changing how it runs, stop and wait for you to Approve or Reject them. If you see her heading the wrong way, click Stop. Anything you type while she's working is queued and sent when she finishes the current turn.
To start fresh, choose Clear from the menu at the top of the panel. When you clear the chat or push a pull request, Soffi writes a note of the session, so you can pick an earlier one from Session history and ask her about it later.
Voice
Click the microphone, Voice input, to dictate instead of typing. When you're done, Use recording puts the transcript in the box so you can check it before sending. Voice input works in Chrome and Edge.
Plan before you build
The mode menu in the message box switches Soffi between Build, the default, and Plan. In Plan mode she reads your code and your app and proposes how she'd make the change, but she can't edit anything: the tools that write are not available to her in that mode. When a request could go more than one way, she asks a few questions first, which you can answer in your own words or skip. When the plan is ready she asks "Ready to proceed with this plan?" Yes, proceed switches to Build and starts the work; No, revise keeps you in Plan to rework it.
Use Plan for anything that touches several screens or a shared component, where agreeing on the approach first is cheaper than undoing it later.
The mode menu also has Launch, a focused mode for getting your app running, which is what Soffi uses when a Project is first set up.
Giving Soffi context
The more Soffi knows about what you're looking at and why, the less you have to explain.
- Elements in the Preview. Click Select element (or press ⌘E) and pick what you mean. You can select several elements and add a note to each. Soffi gets the element, its component and where it lives in your code.
- Tickets. If your Organization has connected Linear or Jira, Attach Linear issue or Attach Jira issue lets you search for a ticket and attach it. Attached tickets stay above the message box for the rest of the session.
- Figma. Attach Figma file takes a link to a file or a frame, and Soffi uses its design as context. See Figma.
- Files. Attach images, PDFs, Word documents, Markdown or plain text, or drag them onto the panel.
Type / to run one of your team's Skills, playbooks Soffi follows on request.
Working with Soffi together
Everyone in a Workspace shares the same conversation with Soffi. When a teammate asks for something, you'll see who asked while she works on it, and a message you send in the meantime waits its turn. See Working together.
